Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara

Your guide will pick you from Arusha, and welcome you and brief you about the details of your 6 days’ safari to Tanzania. After briefing, you will be driven to Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara National Park according to Ernest Hemingway was “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”. Lake Manyara National Park offers a compact game viewing circuit, with Lake Manyara covering two-thirds of the park size. The Great Rift Valley gives a stunning backdrop.

Enjoy a game drive with an opportunity of spotting the famous tree climbing lions. Lunch will be had in the wild. You will also have a nature walk later in the evening to enjoy the scenery and your surroundings in the national park. You will proceed to your lodge after your nature walk for dinner and overnight at Twiga Lodge.

Day 2: Drive to Serengeti national park

You will have an early breakfast at your lodge as you prepare for your transfer to Serengeti national park. You will see different wildlife species during your en route game drive in the open savannah plains. You will have lunch at your lodge in Serengeti national park after checking in.

After lunch, you will have an afternoon game drive as you search for wildlife species in the savannah plains such as the big five like elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinos and also enjoy the beautiful scenery such as the kopjes where lions can be seen as they watch their prey. You will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Osinon camps and lodges.

Day 3: Full day Serengeti

After having breakfast at your lodge in Serengeti national park during your safari, you will engage in a morning game viewing experience. Your lunch will be served at your lodge after your morning game drive. Later in the evening, you will engage in another game drive to see wildlife species such as the big five like lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinos and elephants. You will also see other wildlife and bird species which include wildebeest, waterbucks, antelopes, zebras, kudus, hippos, buffalos among others. You will return to your lodge after your evening game drive for dinner and overnight at Osinon camps and lodges.

Day 4: Drive to Ngorongoro crater

After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to Ngorongoro Conservation area. There is also an optional stopover at Olduvai Gorge, boasting with a history and it is the place where anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of early man.

You will have lunch before descending 600 meters into the Ngorongoro crater for amazing wildlife viewing opportunities and to enjoy the beautiful scenery. You will look out for a variety of wildlife species which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants as well as predators such as lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and leopard. You will also visit Lake Magadi which is a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner and is among the main features of the crater. You will see a large number of flamingos, hippos as well as other bird species during your visit to the lake. You will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Karatu Tented Lodge.

Game Drives in Ngorongoro

Day 5: Ngorongoro to Tarangire

You will have a sumptuous breakfast at the lodge and proceed to Tarangire National Park with a stopover in Karatu for an experience with the Maasai people. You will see local arts and crafts such as beaded jewelry.

You will proceed to Tarangire national park where you will have your packed lunch over a picnic. Tarangire National Park is one of the largest parks in Tanzania characterized by large herds of elephants. After, you will have a game drive during which you will see different wildlife species such as elephants, buffalos, antelopes, zebras, lions, leopards among others. You will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Karatu Tented Lodge.

Day 6: Tarangire to Arusha

You will have an early breakfast at your lodge. You will proceed for a last game drive experience in Tarangire National Park to see large herds of elephants. After enjoying your picnic lunch in the park, you shall head to Arusha for an optional city tour if time allows. Your guide will drop you off at the airport for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar.
