Best Mobile Camps in Serengeti National Park

Best Mobile Camps in Serengeti National Park: It’s another season, another year… The wildebeests and zebras continue their endless search for food and water. Too good to be true, there’s no other place in Africa where animals gather in large crowds totaling nearly 2 million. The Serengeti is the only place where 2 million animals embark on an endless circular movement, from the south to the west to the north and finally back to the south again.
We bet you’re interested in watching this outstanding event. And we’re sure you’re wondering where you will stay for a front-row seat to this world’s mysterious event. That’s why we are here. In this Tanzania safari article, we’ll feature the best mobile camps in the Serengeti. Our experts have carefully explored them and even stayed in these camps to make sure we offer the best information to help you decide precisely. Let’s dive in.
Singita Explore
If you love high-end luxury, this mobile camp is for you. Credited for its private service, including al fresco dining, comfortable beds, and vibrant staff, this is by far the most luxurious mobile camp. The camp features just six luxury tents, simple and custom-designed. The tents are broken and relocated to any of their three locations following the wildlife migration.
Singita Explore is based in the Ndutu Plains in the south from November to March, giving you the chance to watch the calving season and many predators. It then moves into the 350,000-acre Grumeti Reserve (West) from March to June. On top of watching the wildebeest migration, you will also enjoy off-road game drives, night safari drives, and immersive bush walks. From July to October, Singita moves to the Northern Serengeti. We can honestly say this camp can be pricey for budget travelers, with rates being at $1,950 per person.
Legendary Serengeti Camp
There’s something extraordinary in staying at this private camp. Featuring 11 luxury tents, this mobile relocates to three locations: North, South, and West. Owned and run by Legendary Expeditions (a luxurious brand that runs the Mwiba Lodge), this camp is in the south from December to April.

The camp also moves to the west from May to mid-July, where you will have the chance to witness Grumeti River crossings. By late July, the camp set itself in the north to offer you a close encounter with the migration herds crossing the mighty Mara River. This tour is a little more affordable than Singita Explore: rates are at $950 per person.
Ubuntu Migration Camp
Moving next to the migration, Ubuntu Camp is another affordable mobile tented camp in Serengeti National Park. It’s owned and run by Asilia and features only ten luxury tents and moves twice a year. It’s based in the south from mid-December to mid-March and moves to the north from June to mid-November. Price range between $780 (in the low season) and $1,080 (in the high season). And among ten safari tents, Ubuntu Camp has a wonderful family tent and welcomes children from the age of 5 years old.
Usawa Serengeti
This is a new and the first luxurious mobile camp owned by Wilderness in Tanzania. And the best thing is that it tracks the Great Migration, from the south to the north. The camp has six tents that move to several locations just to bring you close to this natural event.
It’s based in the Southern Plains from December to April when wildebeest and zebras give birth to over 500,000 calves. It then relocates to the Western Corridor from April to June and from July to October, Usawa is either in the Lamai or Northern Hills. Another location is in the Eastern Kopjes, from October to February. Rates range from $950 to $1,540 per person.
Chaka Camp
If ultra-luxury camps are out of reach, this simple camp is a great choice. Chaka (a Swahili word for bush) moves twice a year, from the south to the north. It’s always located very close to the Great Migration. The camp is set in Ndutu from December through March.

Here, you will enjoy beautiful views of baby wildebeest and zebras. It then moves to the north, from May to October, in a great destination to watch the herds from your deck. If you don’t fancy high prices, Chaka Camp is a great option for you, with rates around $750 per person.
Serengeti Safari Camp
Owned by Nomad, this luxury mobile camp migrates with the herds of wildebeest and zebras. It’s dedicated to offering front-row seats to the Great Migration, and that’s why it moves four to five times a year. From January to March, the camp is in the southern Serengeti to track the calving season. And from July to October, the camp is in the northern part of the Serengeti. With just six tents, this camp promises intimacy and privacy. The possibilities are endless. Unfortunately, we are unable to name all mobile camps found in the Serengeti in this blog. But we’ll help you pick the right one for you. Let’s start booking.
